Thank you Maldon…. we had a very successful Heritage Weekend

Heritage Weekend takes place each year on the second weekend in September. It is a country wide event when many historic buildings open to the public for free, including some which are not open at any other time.

This year 14th and 15th September we had over 800 visitors to the Moot Hall during the weekend and that is a record number. The youngest was a few months old and the oldest I spoke to was 90 and yes he climbed to the roof via our twisting spiral staircase and was rewarded with a 360⁰ of Maldon, the surrounding countryside, the Blackwater Estuary with a high tide and the Dengie Peninsular right across to Southend. Well worth the climb!

Thank you: For your kind donations. To our traders for organising our table top sale. To the Salt, Water and Beer Shanty Singers for your voices on Saturday afternoon. And to Tim Hoswon, Maldon District Council’s Conservation Office for agreeing to be our guest speaker. Tim’s talk ‘Behind the façade’ was given to a full house and the talk enjoyed by all.

Last chance to visit this year – we are open Every Thursday, Friday and Saturday 11.00am and 12.30pm until the end of October with our last tours this year on Wednesday 31st October.
