“Will you take this Moot Hall to be your wedding venue?”
The Essex Registration Service has approved the 15th Century Moot Hall in Maldon for Civil Weddings and Partnerships. The Trustees of the new charity, Friends of the Moot Hall (FoMH), formed to manage Maldon’s Moot Hall has been granted the License from the 23rd May 2011 to use the building for Civil Weddings, Civil Partnerships, Renewal of Vows and Naming Ceremonies.
The Moot Hall will now provide a unique venue for these ceremonies in the Town Centre. It adds a new service to the Charity’s brief to extend the access and the use of this historic building. There are three main rooms in the building: The ground floor Committee Room with room for 45 people, the first floor 19th century Court Room that accommodates 35, and the second floor Council Chamber, also seating 35. Each room also offers a small antechamber. The balcony, overlooking Maldon’s busy High Street will be available for hire. Due to its age and layout, the Moot Hall is not available for receptions and will only offer the ceremony service.
