Married in Maldon - at The Moot Hall
Maldon’s MOOT HALL has stood in the centre of the town for nearly 600 yearsand is probably one of the oldest brick buildings in Essex. Originally it was built in the mid 15thC as part of the family manor house of Sir Robert D’Arcy. In 1576 the tower was acquired by the town for use as the centre of local government until 1974. Holding civil ceremonies has opened a new chapter in the story of the MOOT HALL.
The MOOT HALL is open for guided tours
With more choice of tours for you, your family and your friends this summer.
The Moot Hall is proud to announce the gift of two prints by The Danger Tree artists Marc Marot and Scarlett Raven. The two smaller prints from the exhibition titled ‘Shall I sing to you’ and ‘Those Measureless fields’ are the most significant pieces to have in Maldon.
Vacancy for volunteer Secretary
A vacancy for a volunteer secretary has occurred on the very successful Management group of the Charity.
On a clear day you can see for miles around from the MOOT HALL rooftop
This historic tower in the Town centre is probably the first secular, decorated brick-building of its kind in the country and set the standard for fortified manor houses in the days when owners might need to defend themselves, their family and their possessions from marauding bands of brigands.
